Community Events

SPARC supports several community service projects by providing communications for special events. This typically involves staffing a station along the route of a parade or walk to report on progress. This provides an important service to the sponsors of the event by helping to . It also provides an opportunity to practice communicating in a non-critical setting. VE Testing

SPARC regularly provides examinations for the various classes of license. These are held on the third Thursday of every other month at 19:00 hours (7:00 pm). Meet at the Lancaster County Emergency Training Center which is located on Champ Rd off or RT-283 West of Lancaster near the Salunga Exit.
Persons desiring testing must be in the lobby by 1845 hours, or 6:45 PM. For more information regarding testing, contact James "Yogi" Bear. The test dates for 2007 are as follows:

February 15 April 19 June 21 August 16 October 18 December 20

TI&E Program

At each regular meeting SPARC provides a technical program which presents some aspect of radio. Recent presentations have included

The role of amateur radio in emergency communications
A celebration of the 100th anniversay of Marconi's first trans-Atlantic radio transmission.
Site preparation and setup for erection of a 150 foot tower
Packet radio demonstration, including spectrum analyzer checkout of members' equipment
