VE  A.R.S. License Testing

SPARC members and others, participate in administering examinations for the all current
classes of license. These are held on the third Thursday of every even numbered months.
Meet at the Lancaster County Emergency Training Center which is located on
 Champ Rd off   RT-283 West of Lancaster near the Salunga Exit. Persons desiring testing
must be in the lobby by 1845 hours, or 6:45 PM.    Walk-ins accepted.

Community & Club Events

Fall Event October ??, 2012	Columbia  Halloween  Parade	Columbia Halloween Parade will be October ??, 2012. That is the fourth Thursday in October. Rain date is the following Monday. Once again the organizers have asked for Amateur Radio help. Mission control is at Hambones Fire hall on  Manor Street in Columbia. We usually start assembling at 5:00 PM and parade steps off at 7:00 PM sharp.  .

        Many SPARC members are avid contesters.
 

At each regular meeting SPARC provides a technical program which presents some aspect of radio or related topics.  Recent presentations have included

• The role of amateur radio in emergency communications.
• A celebration of the 100th anniversay of Marconi's first trans-Atlantic radio transmission.
• Site preparation and setup for erection of a 150 foot tower.
• Packet radio demonstration, including spectrum analyzer checkout of members' equipment.
• Digital TV.
• DXpeditions.
• Grid Connected Solar Power.
• Aviation Communications.
